Wherever I travel, I’m on the lookout for unique, converted places. A restaurant that used to be a bank. A hotel in an old prison. A historic firehouse turned hip bar or music venue. I am inspired by the small business owner who sees an old, dilapidated building and understands its historical significance and beauty. He saves it from the wrecking ball by reinventing it and making it something new but preserves its original integrity.
Come explore with me– these eclectic, imaginative places around the world where history meets hip.
Kelsey Knoedler, Certified Hipstorian
After studying abroad in Ireland as a sophomore in college, I was struck with a deep and fiery wanderlust. I have always had a passion for all things vintage: from poodle skirts and cat eye glasses to finger waves and VW Beetles. I studied creative writing at Saint Mary’s College and Goddard College, and as a child I used reading and writing as a way to escape my small-town Wisconsin life. What better way to combine these three passions than to seek out reimagined, reinvented, repurposed places around the world, explore them, and share them with the world through writing?
I’m a writer, traveler, and creative strategist based in Boston, MA with an MFA in Creative Writing from Goddard College. I was the Content Marketing Editor and primary blog writer for DuVine Cycling + Adventure Co. from November 2014 to May 2016 and am currently a marketing writer for Road Scholar in Boston. Check out some of my work on the DuVine blog:
